Turkeys For Reading Donates over $1,500!
|
For each turkey Nelson's Market sells in the two weeks before Thanksgiving, Nelson's donates $1.00 to the local grade school's library. In order to help local school libraries raise the extra funds needed to buy new books, Nelson's started the Turkeys for Reading program back in 2002, and have donated thousands of dollars to the local schools over the last few years.
This year, Nelson's Market was able to donate $1,593.00 to the local schools in Mora, North Branch and Pine City. These funds will help their libraries keep up on the newest books, magazines and computer equipment in order to help educate their students.
